Whenua Tapu Chapel & Crematorium
In 2021 the Porirua City Council’s chapel and crematorium was officially re-opened after an impressive refresh and earthquake strengthening project. Renovations included a new roof, flooring and the addition of a kitchen and ‘cup of tea’ area.
A new, energy efficient cremator was also installed.
Directions
The distance is approximately 32 kms from Wellington. Follow State Highway 1 North and continue onto State Highway 59 (do not take the exit for Transmission Gully). Take the exit for Whenua Tapu & Airlie Road and turn left at the junction. The cemetery entrance is the first right, the chapel and crematorium second right.
